Vikas Chandra
PresidentVikas Chandra, originally from Chamarajanagar district and now based in Mysore, is a seasoned theater artist with over 15 years of dedicated experience. He began his formal training in the dramatic arts at Bharatiya Rangashikshana Kendra, Rangayana, Mysore, during the 2008–09 academic year. With a diploma, degree, and master’s degree in theater, he has carved a unique niche in children’s theater. His remarkable work includes engaging tribal children from remote forest regions like Nagarhole, Bandipur, Biligiri, and Mahadeshwar—areas historically devoid of cultural exposure—by creating opportunities for them to participate in and experience theater. These performances are not confined to traditional spaces; instead, they are thoughtfully staged right within the heart of the forests, making the art form accessible to its most underserved audiences.
Over the past decade, Vikas Chandra has led his team with vision and commitment, nurturing it into a vibrant institution for performing arts. His directorial portfolio includes acclaimed plays such as Chitrapata Ramayana, Sahebaru Baruttare, Angeemyalangi, Alilu Ramayana, Panjarashaale, Huli Tappisikondide, Purahara, Gombe Ravana, Mrigha Mattu Sundari, Chamacheluve, Soligara Bale, and Ikkada Maraiya Kodada Maari. In addition to directing, he is also a prolific playwright. His works like Yaru Hone, Dalimbe Rani, and Gadanginolagana Satya have been translated into 10 Indian languages and performed in more than 106 shows across the country. Vikas Chandra’s contributions continue to shape and elevate the landscape of theater, especially among marginalized and underrepresented communities.
